Brewster was home to over 50 sea captains in the 18th and 19th centuries. Elaborate mansions were built for their families to live, many of which provide comfort today for the visiting public in the form of inns.

There are countless ponds for swimming and fishing, and hiking alongside. Or spend the day at one of seven beautiful bayside beaches to soak up some sun and dig your toes in the sand. At low tide you can walk for miles along the shore, finding treasures in the wet sand, and watching picturesque sunsets at the end of the day.
In addition to the 12 renowned walking trails throughout Brewster, the town is home to Nickerson State Park. This is the largest state forest on Cape Cod, offering numerous trails through woodlands and around the park's ponds.
Captains Golf Course, a premier public golf course facility, features two 18 hole championship courses for golfers to enjoy.
Brewster is home to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History as well as the historical Stony Brook Gristmill built in the 1800s where visitors can learn about the mill’s fascinating history from artifacts in the museum. Chat with volunteers who staff each of these in summer, and enjoy a little taste of Cape Cod life as it existed a few centuries ago.
With an array of high-end and family-style restaurants, there is no shortage of dining options in Brewster including the renowned Brewster Fish House offering high-quality fresh seafood. And the Snowy Owl offers their own roasted coffee that customers travel miles to come and enjoy, along with eclectic decor and organic gardens on site.
