Welcome to Yarmouth

An idyllic Cape Cod town offering breathtaking scenery and historic shopping districts

The deep blues of the Atlantic, pristine golden beaches and the verdant green stretches of marshland all contribute to the visual allure of Yarmouth, a town nestled in the convenient middle of Cape Cod. Yarmouth was incorporated as part of Plymouth Colony in 1639, and since then has continued to delight visitors from around the world.

The most astonishing and desirable selections of residential real estate in Yarmouth tend to be perched along the waters — whether that’s the Bass River, northern Cape Cod beaches, or the Nantucket Sound to the south — where potential buyers will have boundless scenic views. Among these are plenty of spectacular, multimillion-dollar estates dripping in opulence and coastal, storybook charm.

Whether buyers are looking for an enchanting cottage whose history dates back to the 1700s, mid-century marvel ensconced by lush woods, or a quintessential, “Old Cape Cod,” estate from the early 20th-century set right on the beach, they’re certain to be impressed with the diversity of Yarmouth’s properties. Along the Historic Captains Mile stretch of homes — sometimes referred to as the crown jewel of homes on Old Kings Road — a stunning collection of historic houses and inns tucked along the beach create what’s known as one of the most beautiful drives in America.

Local Lifestyle

Quiet, historic neighborhoods and a relatively small population both help to establish the intimate, serene atmosphere of Yarmouth. Rather than national chains or bustling commercial corridors, the town is instead populated with cozy coffee shops and family-owned antique stores. Its residents prefer to spend their time experiencing the splendor of the many beaches, attending community events, and embracing the low-key luxury lifestyle.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

Downtown Yarmouth is a treasure trove of artisanal creations, independent boutiques, galleries, and phenomenal restaurants. Near Yarmouth Port along Main Street, visitors can pop into a historic home-turned-museum to get a taste of the local history, or choose to hunt for the perfect antique piece at local shops like Simply Vintage of Cape Cod

Foodies can find their own bounty of goodness on Main Street too, and here the cuisine can vary from afternoon tea set in landmark historic homes to authentic international fare. Inaho Japanese Restaurant, for instance, is a well-known fine dining spot dishing up sublime sushi and fresh, authentic Japanese cuisine in an upscale environment.

Lighthouse Keepers Pantry is a unique destination, and its shelves are stocked with small-batch foods and goods inspired by the life of a lighthouse keeper. Jack’s OutBack II specializes in satisfying breakfast meals and incredible customer service and stands as the kind of restaurant where every diner feels like family. Captain Parker’s Pub is famous for its creamy, flavorful clam chowder, which has won a total of 18 first-place titles from the Boston Chowder Championship.

Things to Do

Yarmouth carries on the Cape Cod tradition of maintaining an energetic social calendar, and its residents are treated to several seasonal events throughout the year. In the fall — Columbus Day weekend, to be exact — the Yarmouth Seaside Festival honors the town’s rich heritage and spirit. Each year, the festival’s continuous musical performances, artists and vendors from around the country, and entertainment suitable for all ages draw in a crowd from all over Cape Cod.

The 4th of July is a special holiday near and dear to the hearts of all Cape Cod residents, who cherish the celebration of the historic date so intertwined to the history of the cape itself. The town of Yarmouth is no different, and every year on the 4th, the sky lights up with a radiant fireworks display, best viewed from the water.

Yarmouth is also well-known for its beaches, among which are Grays Beach and Seagull Beach, located at opposite ends of the town. In the north, Grays Beach offers scenic boardwalk and picnic locations with views of the Cape Cod Bay, while Seagull Beach in West Yarmouth is known as the largest and most popular beach in town.
